August 17, 2008 (Ellacoya State Park, NH) – Andy Potts probably would rather be in Beijing, but a first place finish in New Hampshire this weekend isn’t a bad consolation prize. Potts added to his wins this year at the California IRONMAN 70.3 races and Escape from Alcatraz, as well as seconds at the big-money Lifetime Fitness race in Minneapolis and at the Olympic Trials. Potts, of Colorado Springs, led the race from start to finish, crushing a strong field by ten minutes with a 3:52:32. Simon Lessing and Michael Lovato of Boulder came in third and fourth, respectively. Amanda Stevens of Colorado Springs showed her swimming prowess with a 25:07 split. She was in a tight race for second place (IRONMAN World Champion Chrissie Wellington was 20 minutes ahead of the rest of the women) and held on with a 4:30:03 total time.
