SALINAS, ECUADOR — Benedikt Bettin of the University of Colorado placed ninth in the men’s elite race at the Americas Triathlon Cup over the weekend.
At the beginning of the month, Bettin led the CU Triathlon Team to second place in the team standings at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships. In back-to-back days of racing, he earned individual championship titles in both the Draft-legal sprint race and Olympic-distance event.
Bettin, a German national who studies physics at CU Boulder, finished 15th in the elite men’s competition at the Americas Triathlon Cup Sarasota-Bradenton on March 12 in Florida to launch his 2022 racing season.
His top-10 finish in Ecuador over the weekend moved him up in the World Triathlon rankings. He next plans to race at the Americas Triathlon Cup and Central American and Caribbean Championships in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in the middle of May.
