Duathletes Get Dirty at Pagosa Springs Duathlon

In a fun local race that epitomizes a grassroots spirit, 126 racers of all ages toed the line to “Do the Du” in Pagosa Springs. The race is an annual favorite for runners and duathletes in southwest Colorado with the proceeds benefitting the Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program.

In the Dirty Sprint women’s division, Angela Wideman took first in 1:11:02, Nicole Wright came in second in 1:13:29, and Lisa Eckert rounded out the top three in 1:16:06. For the men, Dan Wyszynski claimed the win with a sub-one-hour performance of 56:53. Steve Ilg placed second in 1:03:24, and Sam Prutsman took third in 1:06:11. Carla Grossman and Janine Emmets took top honors in the team division.

In the Dirty Du, Lauren Wolford won the women’s division in 2:11:32 with Katarina Marks second in 2:13:15, and Sasha Underwood third in 2:16:43. In the men’s division, Jurgen Montogemery crossed the line first in 1:49:20 with Mathew Wolford second in 1:49:45, and Nate Goddard third in 1:50:27. Brandy Peterson and Shay Denning took the team division title.

In addition, twenty some kids took part in the non-competitive kids’ event.
