A couple of weeks ago, a flurry of Colorado pro triathletes competed in the New York City Triathlon. It was a great showing by both the men and the women as they proved to be fast and furious in the short course.

On the men’s side, Cam Dye of Boulder finished second, just 31 seconds behind the winner, Ben Collins. Dye is known for his speed and definitely showed it from the get-go by turning in the fastest swim time of the day of 11 minutes 54 seconds and an overall time of 1 hour 45 minutes 30 seconds.

The next male competitor to cross the finish line was Rudy Von Berg of Boulder. As usual, Von Berg turned in swift swim time of 12:02 to stay in the lead pack during the swim. He was able to hold on for fifth place on the day with an overall time of 1:49:15 thanks to a solid run and one of the fastest run splits of the day of 33:11.

The final male pro representing Colorado, and Boulder, was 12th place finisher Sean Daugherty, who stayed steady all day in each event to turn in a finishing time of 1:56:38. Great job, guys!

In the women’s race, Boulder-trainee, and IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder champion, Alicia Kaye kept up her winning ways in a convincing way in New York. Kaye led from start to finish thanks to her zippy swim time of 13:44, which was the fastest of the day. Kaye also turned in one of the fastest bike times, 1:03:34, and finished off her day with a run of 36:51 for an overall time of 1:58:25.

Not far behind Kaye out of the water was Boulderite Lauren Goss, 13:53, who finished second on the day with an overall time of 2:01:09. Claiming the final podium spot was Boulderite Felicity Sheedy-Ryan, who turned in one of the fastest run splits of the day, 35:51, and left no doubt she deserved to stand on the podium with an overall time of 2:04:19.

The final Boulder-trainee pro to wrap up a solid race day in NYC was Ellie Salthouse, who finished sixth place overall, 2:06:51. Thanks to her fast swim of 14:43, Salthouse kept herself in the mix throughout the race. Congrats to all of our Colorado pros on a great day in NYC!
