August 5, 2012 (Boulder, CO) — Australian Joe Gambles, who trains in Boulder, repeated as champion of the IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder this year. Gambles clocked a time of 3 hours 44 minutes 4 seconds to break the previous record of 3:45:35 that he set in last year’s race. Jordan Jones of Golden took second in 3:47:41, and Boulder’s Ben Hoffman finished third in 3:48:22. In the women’s race, Liz Blatchford made up for not being selected to Britain’s Olympic team by winning in Boulder with a time of 4:07:48. Melissa Huschildt placed second in 4:09:44 and Leanda Cave took third in 4:10:55.
